When we retired, I told myself we would not go crazy on a bunch of vacations and “spend it all in one place”. We followed my plan – mostly. We did take an Alaskan cruise together and though it was more money than we planned on spending, it was more beautiful that I could even have imagined. Now, we’re back home and getting back into the swing of reality. Times are tough, even though we’ve saved for this. We’re used to having steady income, so we’re having to cut corners to be able to stay at home from now on. I cook just like I always did, but in the winter, I leave the oven open while it cools to help heat the house. We called our Reliant Texas Electricity Provider to talk about getting a better rate and that has helped immensely. We do our watering in the morning so we don’t have to do it again in the afternoon, which saves on our water bill. Now that we’ve gotten into a routine we’re enjoying this life of leisure – we should have tried retirement years ago!
